Since the early 19th century the term mocktail was used and it grew in popularity ever since.
From soon-to-be mothers to a work lunch, the Strawberry Daiquiri mocktail is a favourite choice.
How to make a virgin Strawberry Daiquiri
Typically made white rum, the Strawberry Daiquiri is easily converted into a mocktail. Simply substitute the rum with a carbonated drink link tonic water or lime soda:
- Tonic water is carbonated water with added quinine and sugar for a bitter and sweet taste.
- Lemon lime soda or Sprite is carbonated and much sweeter than tonic water.
Ingredients
- 250g frozen strawberries
- 60g fresh strawberries
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- 1 tot (25ml) simple syrup
- 2 tots (50ml) fresh lime juice
- 4 tots (100ml) tonic water/lime soda
- Garnish: strawberry
Directions
In a blender, combine the lime with both the fresh and frozen strawberries.
Pour in the simple syrup, lime juice and tonic water/lime soda, and blend until smooth.
Pour into a glass.
